Merrickville Blockhouse Park, located beside the upper lock, during Canalfest. On the left is downtown Merrickville with its historic stone buildings. Anchoring the park on the left is the Merrickville Blockhouse, one of only four blockhouses built along the entire length of the Rideau. In the distance on the right (you might have to scroll the page to the right to see this) is The Depot, the Rideau Interpretive Centre and retail outlet for Friends of the Rideau.
Canalfest is an annual festival in Merrickville. It usually takes place in early July and features all sorts of interesting activities. |
