Two canal staff stand in a well practiced pose while scanning the channel for incoming boats. The locks are generally not very busy with the exception of a few weekends in July. However, as lock staff will tell you, boats come in waves, it can be quiet for a few hours and then suddenly a flotilla arrives all wanting to be locked through at the same time. |
