Locking Through Jones Falls
Locking Through Jones Falls
photo by: Ken W. Watson, 2008

A boat has locked through the Upper Lock at Jones Falls and is now entering the top flight lock (of the lower set of 3 locks). Since this lock is internal, it has no flood guard (no extra height to guard against flooding). So the water, as per the original lock design, is almost at the top of the lock. Friendly lock staff are always on hand to help loop a boat's mooring lines through the drop cables on the lock.
