Early spring on the Rideau sees the arrival of many migratory birds. Here we see a Wood Duck at the edge of the melting ice on Sand Lake. The colourful green head and orange eyes of the Wood Duck make them very distinctive. Similar to most ducks that eat vegetation, their takeoff from the water is an explosion, lifting off the water almost instantly. |
