Building the Nest photo by: Ken W. Watson, 2011 |
An osprey (male) arrives home bearing a new branch for its nest on top of a tall pine tree. Mum is in the nest (in fact with a hatched chick - not visible in this photo). An osprey nest is made up of dead branches, most often at the top of a tall pine tree but also in large hydro towers or purpose built nesting platforms. Ospreys and their nests are quite easy to spot all along the Rideau Canal. |
