Otters are present in many spots on the Rideau Canal. They are quite easy to distinguish from other aquatic mammals, such as muskrats and beavers, with their typical vertical head bobbing "who's that" position. They are almost always together as a family grouping of four, five or six. Although curious, they are quite shy and often hard to photograph. These guys (part of a group of five), were photographed in early morning on Opinicon Lake. |
