Duke's Profile photo by: Ken Watson, 2001 |
This rock promontory, known as the "Duke's Profile" for its appearance as the profile of a human head, is named for the Duke of Wellington, who, although he never visited Canada, was a major proponent of building the Rideau Canal. The Duke's Profile overlooks a section of the Rideau known as the "Court of the Duke", located where the waters from Cranberry Lake flow into the Cataraqui River (just upstream of Upper Brewers Locks). |
