I'm normally a solitary paddler and lunch consists of a bag of trail mix. But I'm sometimes asked to accompany a group tour as a raconteur of all things Rideau. I do this on a volunteer basis - the payment is an interested audience and often a great lunch. In this case with a tour put on by 1000 Islands Kayaking, a local flavours spread at Chaffeys Lock; flaxseed bread, local cheeses, trout, shaved beef, assorted local veggies, apple cider and more.
