There are very few things that can get me up at the crack of dawn, but paddling on the Rideau is one of them. Since I live here, I tend to do day trips, so getting an early start gives me 10 to 12 hours of paddling time. Dawn, with the quiet still water of the lake and rich light of the rising sun is a wonderful time for paddling. Of course a thermos of hot coffee also helps (better nature appreciation with a wide awake brain). |
