Built by John Chaffey in 1872, the mill, now a private residence, was a "grist" mill, used to grind wheat into flour. The building was originally all stone, the wooden front was added in the early 1900s after spring floods damaged the original stonework. In 1941, Arthur Phelps purchased the mill and renovated it as a private residence. He lived there until his death in 1970. Relatives of Phelps currently own the building.
