Agriculture is still a mainstay of the Rideau region. Farms, large and small, dot the Rideau region. This one, the Day farm located on the Davis Lock Road, is typical of a small farm. The old barn, with it's cut stone base; the pasture to the right, grass kept trim by the cattle; bales of hay, piled high, ready to feed the cattle in the winter; the farmhouse, at the back on the left, sporting new siding and new coat of paint; and out of sight, on the far side of the pasture past the farmhouse under the blaze of colour from the maple trees, a sugar shack, ready to produce delicious maple syrup in the spring. |
