Pink Granite and Red Sumac photo by: Ken Watson, 2001 |
The subtle pink of the granite contrasts with the blazing red of fall coloured sumac along a Rideau country road. The granite is part of the Canadian Shield known as the Frontenac Axis that runs through the Rideau region, providing relief in the south-central Rideau area and hosting the beautiful Rideau lakes. Sumac can be found everywhere in the Rideau region, blending in with other trees and bushes during the summer, and then standing out in blazing red glory during the fall. |
