Fall View from Rock Dunder photo by: Ken W. Watson, 2006 |
Rock Dunder on the east side of Morton Bay provides a great view. In this case the mirror calm of the water in Morton Bay reflects the blend of evergreen and fall colours while the early morning fog can be seen lifting over Whitefish Lake. This shot was taken at 8 a.m. on October 8. Rock Dunder is a granitic (quartz monzonite) exposure, part of the Lyndhurst granite pluton. It rises to a height of 176 metres (577 feet), which is 77 metres (253 feet) above the level of the water in Morton Bay. The property, formerly owned by the Boy Scouts of Canada, is now owned by the Rideau Waterway Land Trust, who will preserve it in its natural state. |
