| A heron takes on a defensive pose as a hawk dives down on it. I have to admit that this encounter was my fault. As I set up for a photo of the heron nest, the heron took flight and for some reason decided to set down on the hawk's nest which was on the top of a tree on the shoreline. The hawk, which was off the nest at the time, but not too far away, took exception to this and quickly chased the heron off its nest. The heron headed straight back to its own nest and then defended it against the very angry hawk. In the commotion, they forgot all about me and within a minute, both had settled back quietly to their respective nests.
